Welcome !

The 4th edition of the international conference on optics, photonics and its applications (ICOPA4) will take place from 5 to 7 December 2016 in ICMCB-CNRS in Pessac (near Bordeaux).

This conference finds its justification in the increasing number of emerging applications of optics and photonics in the fields of imaging (for example holography), optical telecommunications, optical diagnostics in health and industry or the detection of pollutants. A large number of these applications have been obtained through the development and constantly improved performances of laser sources.

One of the most salient features of ICOPA lies therefore in the latest advances allowed by the ultra-short laser sources over large spectral ranges. Another fundamental axis of ICOPA, photonics has also benefited from progress in nanotechnology that paved the way for nanophotonics and nano-optics. The specific topics covered by ICOPA 4 will be : ultrafast lasers (solid-state lasers, fiber lasers, etc.), nonlinear dynamics and solitons (spatio-temporal solitons, dissipative solitons, ultrafast laser dynamics, etc.), microcavities and microlasers (micro-resonators, microchip lasers, etc.), laser materials, engineering and applications (high-power lasers, beam shaping, laser microfabrication, etc.), materials for nonlinear optics and new applications (graphene, silicon photonics, poled glasses, etc.), mid-IR and terahertz sources, biophotonics.

This conference aims to bring together worldwide physicists in the realm of optics and photonics and materials physical chemists to share ideas and experiences, with a view to nucleation of international projects. Students and young researchers are especially encouraged to attend the conference via the reduced registration fees.
